What happened
Freshworks told users by email that Freshping was being retired, with 6 March 2026 as the last day of free plans and of renewals. Teams that relied on it needed somewhere else to go. The dates and sources are on our Freshping page.
A checklist for the replacement
How often it checks, and how it confirms
A short interval only helps if failures are confirmed before anyone is alerted. Ask how a tool decides an outage is real: re-checks over time, checks from several locations, or nothing at all. Read more about check intervals and confirmation checks.
What it can check
HTTP status is the minimum. Keyword checks catch pages that return 200 with an error on them. Certificate expiry warnings prevent the most avoidable outage there is. Heartbeat monitors cover cron jobs and backups, which website checks cannot see.
How it treats deploys and maintenance
Every service has planned work and deploys that fail for a minute. Check that you can schedule maintenance windows, so planned work is not counted as downtime. Check that short deploy-time failures can be filtered out without slowing alerts for real outages. The guide to false alarms during deploys shows what to look for.
Where alerts go
Email plus the chat tool your team lives in: Slack, Teams, Google Chat or Discord. A webhook option means you can connect anything else later. Check that the recovery arrives in the same place as the alert.
The status page
Can it run on your own subdomain? Can it be password-protected for one customer? Does it explain outages, or just list them? Does it let people subscribe?
Who can use it
Several logins with roles beat a shared password. Look for a way to alert people who need to know about outages, such as a manager or a client, without giving them a login.
How it will end
Freshping's shutdown is a reminder that free products disappear. Prefer a tool whose business model you understand, and keep your own list of what you monitor. In Upcertain, the REST API returns every monitor.
Keep a written list
Whatever you choose, write down every URL, what counts as up for it, who should hear when it fails and which status page it belongs on. That list is what you rebuild from next time, and it makes the move itself take an afternoon. The step-by-step move into Upcertain, including CSV import, is on the Freshping page.
Where Upcertain fits
Upcertain is in early access, so there are no prices yet and accounts start on the Basic plan: 10 monitors as often as every 60 seconds and one status page. It covers HTTP, keyword, ping, port, SSL and heartbeat checks, alerts to email, Slack, Teams, Discord, Google Chat and webhooks, and status pages with custom domains on Team and Business. It checks from one region and has no phone or SMS alerts. If you need those, choose accordingly. The details are on the Freshping comparison page.
