Before you start
- Your Upcertain account needs the Team or Business plan, which include MCP.
- Any member except notify-only members can connect their own apps.
- Adding custom connectors in Claude depends on your Claude plan and, in organisations, on your administrator.
Add the connector
- In Claude (claude.ai or the desktop app), open Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Name it Upcertain and paste the server address:
https://upcertain.com/api/mcp. - Choose Connect. Claude opens Upcertain in your browser.
Approve the connection
- Sign in to Upcertain if you are not already.
- Pick the workspace Claude may use, if you belong to more than one.
- Choose Read-only (the default) or Read-write. Read-write lets Claude create, pause and resume monitors and acknowledge incidents, and is offered only if your role can make those changes.
- Approve. You return to Claude with Upcertain connected.
Things to ask
- "Which monitors are down right now, and since when?"
- "List this week's incidents on the payments API with their causes and durations."
- "Make a table of 30-day uptime for every monitor, worst first."
- "Add a keyword monitor for https://example.com that checks for Welcome every 5 minutes." (read-write)
- "Acknowledge the open incident on checkout." (read-write)
Manage and disconnect
Every connection is listed in Upcertain under Settings, API & MCP, Connected apps. You can disconnect your own; owners and admins can disconnect anyone's. A connection follows your membership: if you leave the account or become notify-only it ends, and if your role can no longer make changes it becomes read-only.
Using an API key instead
Claude Desktop can also reach Upcertain through a local bridge with an API key, which owners and admins create. The configuration is on the MCP server page. Sign-in is simpler and gives each person their own revocable connection.
