Put a status page on your own domain

A status page on your own subdomain looks like part of your product and keeps working links in your docs and emails. Setup is one DNS record.

Before you start

  • Custom domains are included on the Team and Business plans.
  • Owners and admins connect domains.
  • Use a subdomain you are not using for anything else, such as status.yourcompany.com.
  • You need access to the DNS settings where your domain is managed (Cloudflare, Route 53, GoDaddy and so on).

1. Connect the domain in Upcertain

  1. Open Status pages, choose the page and open its settings.
  2. In Custom domain, enter the hostname, for example status.yourcompany.com, and press Connect.
  3. Upcertain shows the DNS record to add, with a copy button.

2. Add the CNAME record

Where your DNS is managed, create a CNAME record from your hostname to pages.upcertain.com:

TypeNameValue
CNAMEstatuspages.upcertain.com

On Cloudflare, set the record to DNS only (grey cloud). Proxying it through Cloudflare hides the CNAME, and Upcertain cannot issue the certificate.

3. Verify

Press Verify once the record is saved. Pending domains are also re-checked every 5 minutes for 72 hours, so you can close the page and come back. When the record is found the domain shows Verified. Live at https://status.yourcompany.com.

The first visit to the new address triggers the HTTPS certificate from Let's Encrypt. Open it once yourself; it may take a few seconds the first time.

When a TXT record is also needed

If another Upcertain account has claimed or verified the same hostname before, a CNAME alone does not prove the domain is yours. Upcertain then shows a TXT record as well:

TypeNameValue
TXT_upcertain.statusupcertain-verify=<token from the app>

If verification fails

  • Check the record from outside your network: dig +short CNAME status.yourcompany.com should print pages.upcertain.com.
  • DNS changes can take a while to reach every resolver; your provider's TTL decides how long.
  • A claim expires 72 hours after you connect the domain. To start a new window, remove the domain and connect it again.
  • A hostname can serve only one status page at a time.

What the domain serves

Your domain serves the status page and its incident history. The Upcertain app, the REST API and the MCP server stay on upcertain.com. The page is also still reachable at its upcertain.com/s/<page> address.

Questions

Can I use my root domain (yourcompany.com)?
Use a subdomain. Root domains cannot carry a CNAME record at most DNS providers, and your main site usually lives there.
Do I need to renew the certificate?
No. Upcertain requests and renews the Let's Encrypt certificate for your hostname on its own, as long as the CNAME stays in place.
