Team roles and the audit log

Give each person the access they need and no more. Upcertain has five roles, from full control to email alerts without a login.

Roles

RoleCan
OwnerEverything, including handing the account over and deleting it
AdminEverything else: team, plan, API keys, custom domains, alert grouping and reports, audit log
EditorCreate and change monitors, status pages, alert channels and maintenance; acknowledge incidents
ViewerRead the dashboard
Notify-onlyReceive email alerts for chosen events; no login

Invite people

  1. Owners and admins open Team and invite by email, choosing the role.
  2. The person gets an email and accepts with a button; they sign up or sign in.
  3. Resending an invitation renews its link. Invitations expire if not accepted.

Notify-only contacts are added from the same form, choosing the events they receive: down, up and SSL expiry. They never get a login.

Seats and plans

Basic has one seat: the owner. Team and Business include unlimited members. If a plan changes, existing members keep access and new invitations wait until there is room.

Changing owners

An owner hands an account over by making another member an owner. Account deletion is confirmed through a link sent by email.

The audit log

Owners and admins see Settings, Audit log: changes to members, API keys, plans, monitors, status pages and alert channels, with who made them and when. Entries are kept for 365 days.

API keys and connected apps

API keys are created by owners and admins and act with their creator's access. Any member except notify-only can connect their own apps over MCP, read-only unless their role can make changes. See the MCP server and the REST API.
