Use case

Uptime monitoring for agencies

An agency looks after dozens of sites it did not always build, for clients who notice an outage before anyone else. The work is keeping those sites watched, the right people told, and clients informed.

Organise by client

  • Groups: put each client's monitors in a group named after the client. The monitor list shows each group as its own section.
  • Tags for the cross-cutting views: wordpress, shop, retainer.
  • Import a client's sites in one go from a CSV with a group column; groups are created as needed. See CSV import.

What to monitor for each client

CheckWhy
Home page, HTTPThe first thing the client looks at
Key page, keywordCatches error pages that still return 200, such as a broken plugin
SSL certificateEvery HTTPS monitor warns 30, 14 and 7 days before expiry
Contact form or checkout endpointWhere lost leads and orders happen
Backups and scheduled jobs, heartbeatSilent failures you are paid to prevent

Tell the right people

  • Route each client's monitors to the channel of the team that looks after them: one Slack channel per client or per team.
  • Add client contacts as notify-only members: they get email alerts for the events you choose, and have no login.
  • Use confirmation checks so a client never gets an alert for a blip.
  • Turn on weekly or monthly reports to have each period's uptime and incidents emailed.

A status page per client

On Team and Business you can create unlimited status pages: one per client, showing only that client's monitors under the names they recognise. Put each on the client's own subdomain, such as status.client.com, and hide the Upcertain footer link (Team and Business). Pages can be public, or password-protected for clients who would rather not show their status publicly. See status pages and custom domains.

When a client has its own account

Some clients want their monitoring in an account they own. The client creates the account and invites your team members with the role they choose; each account's data stays separate at the database level, and you switch between the accounts you belong to.

Size and plan

Team includes 100 monitors at 30-second checks, unlimited status pages and members, and custom domains. Business sets custom limits for agencies with more. See pricing or talk to us.

Questions

Can clients see each other's monitors?
Not on their status pages: each page shows only the monitors you put on it. Members of an account see all of that account's monitors, so give clients notify-only access or their own account.
Can I white-label the status pages?
Team and Business can hide the "Powered by Upcertain" link and put each page on the client's domain with the client's logo.
