Where Oh Dear does more

Oh Dear checks more about each website: broken links, DNS and performance, alongside uptime, certificates, cron jobs and status pages. It verifies each alert from a second location, and includes single sign-on, two-factor and unlimited users on every plan.

Where Upcertain is different

  • Monitors, not sites. A site with an API, a health endpoint, a mail server and three jobs is one site at Oh Dear and several monitors at Upcertain. Which is cheaper depends on how you monitor.
  • Confirmation over time you tune per monitor, for services whose deploys fail briefly. See confirmation checks.
  • Status pages that group simultaneous incidents and fold brief outages.
  • MCP and REST for agents and scripts.

Questions to ask before you switch

  • Which checks do you rely on today that Upcertain does not run, such as browser checks or checks from several regions?
  • Who needs a login, and who only needs alerts? Notify-only contacts cover the second group.
  • How long do your deploys fail for? That decides your confirmation settings.
  • Which status page domain and subscribers will move, and how will you tell subscribers?

Moving from Oh Dear

  1. List your Oh Dear monitors: URLs or hosts, intervals and expected status codes.
  2. Import them with a CSV file or a list of URLs, up to 200 rows at a time (CSV import).
  3. Add alert channels and send a test to each.
  4. Rebuild the status page and move your subdomain's CNAME to pages.upcertain.com (custom domains).
  5. Run both for a week, then switch the old monitors off.
